Jacques Sicard of France was hired
by Weller Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio in 1902.
Sicard created a secret glaze formula for decorating pottery in Art Nouveau
motifs with iridescent shades of purple, silver and green. In France the
process was known as "Reflets Metalliques". Sicard maintained the secrecy
of the process and returned to France in 1907. This 13.5in vase is signed

The Norse Pottery Co was started in
Edgerton, Wisconsin in 1903. IN 1904, they moved to Rockford, Illinois.
The focus of their production was black pottery made to resemble bronze
relics from Scandinavia. The company closed in 1913. Smaller limited-production
American art pottery companies are a really hot collectable market these
days. This is a 6x4in marked Norse pottery vase with a black glass stand
for $210.00. |
